Two dozen hikers had to be rescued from Mount Washington this week, as they were ‘unprepared’ for the winter-like conditions on New England’s highest peak. For people who are unfamiliar with the region, Mount Washington in New Hampshire is unlike other mountains in the area because even if the weather is warm at the base, once you start getting near the top it is cold, even in summer months. At this time of year, it can seem like winter near the top with snow and freezing winds.
