According to The College Fix, a former assistant professor, Joshua Bregy, is suing Clemson University. Bregy was reportedly dismissed over a post on social media calling the political assassination of Charlie Kirk “karma.” The American Civil Liberties Union of South Carolina recently filed the initial complaint and motion for preliminary injunction seeking Bregy’s reinstatement, monetary damages, and a correction of personnel records. Interestingly, the ACLU never seems to be around to defend right-wing or conservative-leaning professors. “All we are asking for in the case is to uphold the longstanding First Amendment right of public employees to speak in their personal capacity on important public topics,” Paul Bowers, director of communications at ACLU-SC, told The College Fix in an interview.
