Attorney General Dan Rayfield Oregon’s Democrat Attorney General Dan Rayfield has issued a brazen warning to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Federal agents operating in Oregon could be arrested and prosecuted if the state believes “excessive force” is being used while protecting the Portland ICE facility or detaining illegal immigrants. The letter, sent on November 24, 2025, and co-signed by several liberal county prosecutors, formally puts federal law enforcement under investigation by the Oregon Department of Justice. In it, Rayfield threatens that any federal officer deemed to have used force “beyond the reasonable scope of their duties” could face criminal prosecution under state law.
