A Thanksgiving Day tragedy was averted in Texas when a 12-year-old girl was rescued from a collapse while digging a hole in a sand bar. The young girl was trapped after she became buried. Numerous local agencies responded and were involved in the rescue effort. The Montgomery County Sheriff, along with the Woodlands Fire Department and medics were among them who helped save the girl’s life. Before the emergency services arrived, the girl’s father quickly responded by removing as much sand as possible to allow her to breath. When they arrived on the scene, only the girl’s face and head were above the sand.
