An active shooter opened fire near the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office and Courthouse in Idaho on Friday, injuring three people before being fatally shot by law enforcement. The incident began around 2:30 p.m. local time, with reports of multiple gunshots ringing out in downtown Wallace, a community of about 1,000 residents in northern Idaho. Witnesses described hearing a “barrage” of gunfire as the suspect, armed with multiple weapons, fired into nearby businesses including an Ace Hardware store across the street from the sheriff’s office. Staff at the hardware store were reportedly forced into lockdown, hiding in the basement as bullets shattered windows.
