Senate Democrats have reportedly struck a deal to avert a partial government shutdown. Earlier Thursday, the Senate blocked a measure to advance a government funding package in a 45-55 vote ahead of Saturday’s deadline for a shutdown. Seven Republicans joined the Democrats to block the funding package which includes money for the Department of Homeland Security. Later Thursday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer agreed to a deal that will give more time to negotiate funding for the Department of Homeland Security. The vote may come as early as Thursday evening.
