Ricky (Rick) Dale Summers, age 67, of Chillicothe, Missouri was called to his eternal home Tuesday, September 9, 2025. Rick passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family, just as he had asked for.
Rick was born to Alfred (Bud) Summers and Betty Louise Samm on August 19, 1958. Rick lost his mom Betty to cancer when he was 10 years old. But remarried Edith (Kathy) Pollock in 1968. Kathy filled the motherly role and raised Rick and his brothers.
Rick was raised on his family farm outside of Chillicothe Missouri with his parents and 8 siblings. He attended and graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1976. His senior year he met his best friend and beloved wife Ruth Ann Brockhaus.
Rick and Ruth Ann were married January 31, 1981. Together they raised their 4 kids Robert (Jamie) of Chillicothe Mo; Joseph (Keli) of Chillicothe Mo; Rebecca (Jesse Hull) of Chillicothe, Mo & Jennifer (Michael Eversole) of Altamont, Mo.
Rick was a hardworking farmer, the kind of man whose hands told the story of a life built on love, long hours, and endless dedication. Rick farmed his entire life all the way until the very end. In the earlier years he milked dairy cows for over 15 years. When he sold the milking business Rick started his career in truck driving. He started at Chillicothe Iron & Steel working there over 10 years before leaving and beginning at Ziegler’s. He retired from Ziegler’s in 2023, returning to his passion of farming full time.
Rick was a son, brother, husband, father, papa, and friend to many. He didn’t know a stranger. Always eager to lend a hand when someone was in need, without being asked and never expected anything in return. Rick worked from before sunrise and well after the sunset and the good lord knowing this, called him home in those early morning hours so he could begin his work in those golden fields.
Rick is survived by his beloved wife Ruth Ann, sons Robert (Jamie), Joseph (Keli), daughters, Rebecca (Jesse), Jennifer (Mike), grandkids, JR, Cameron, Lance (Lilli), Lexi (Skylar), Benson, Kallie, Tagen, Ava, Kaleb, Dawson, Alli, Valeri, Wade, 2 great grandchildren, his mother Kathy, and 8 siblings.
He is preceded in death by his father, biological mother, and two infant brothers.
Memorials in honor of Rick Summers can be made out to Plainview Cemetery or Chula Fire Department.
