Dixie Lee Christison, age 85, a lifelong resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Friday, January 9, 2026, at her residence.
Dixie was born the daughter of Carl and Pearl Lula (Martin) Schwab on March 19, 1940 in rural Chillicothe, Missouri. She graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1957. After graduating high school, she worked as a beautician. Dixie was united in marriage to William “Bill” Christison on July 24, 1966 in Chillicothe, Missouri and became a farm wife. He survives of the home.
Dixie was a member of both, Calvary Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri and the Tenth Street Baptist Church in Trenton, Missouri. She was also a member of the National Family Farm Coalition as well as the Baptist Young Women’s group at Calvary Baptist Church. She participated as a Democratic election judge for many years. Dixie enjoyed embroidery and gardening. She canned what she grew in her gardens every year. She loved her grandchildren with her whole heart. They were her greatest joy. Dixie always had a smile on her face and a kind word for everyone she met.
Survivors include her husband, Bill of the home; one daughter, Rebecca Lee Wisner and husband, Mark of Chillicothe, Missouri; two grandchildren, Dane Tyler Wisner and wife, Jennifer of Chillicothe, Missouri and Jayde Irene Wisner of Chillicothe, Missouri; three great grandchildren, Leo Wisner, Graham Wisner and JoJo Hammond of Chillicothe, Missouri; one sister, Nellie Jo Gaston of Chillicothe, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Carl Schwab, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, January 12, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. A scheduled visitation will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Monday, January 12, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. Friends may call at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri on Sunday, January 11, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 pm. Burial will be held at Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
