Chad Eric Murry, age 66, of Platte County, Missouri, was killed in a one vehicle accident on his way to church Sunday, January 4, 2026.
Chad was born July 21, 1959 to Marjorie (Littrell) and William L. Murry of Wheeling, Missouri. He attended Wheeling Elementary, Jr. and High School where he enjoyed playing basketball, baseball, track and field. He graduated May 1977. Chad worked for Donaldson’s and also attended Missouri Western State College before he joined the United States Postal Service in 1980. Chad became a Letter Carrier and worked in Parkville, MO, Downtown at the Kansas City, Missouri Post Office, The Gladstone Post Office, and finally The North Kansas City Post Office. While working at The North Kansas City Post Office, Chad worked as a Supervisor, overseeing the carriers and how they delivered the mail. He also had the opportunity to work with the Postal Inspectors. He also took a position at the Wheeling Post Office as Interim Post Master for a while. He was awarded several safe driving awards throughout his career before retiring in 2017. Chad enjoyed working for the Post Office and loved to visit with the people on his route. He had some harrowing experiences at times being chased on foot by dogs and jumping onto the roof of his jeep, getting shot at, and having kids poke long sticks in his windows trying to harass him. He’d come home with holes in his shirt tails, scratches on his arms and hands as he avoided injury and still delivered the mail. Chad was active in a walking and bike riding club in and around Parkville. He enjoyed sharing meals with family and friends, especially attending fish fry’s.
He is survived by his wife Lori, of the home; Daughter Jordan (David) Macke Woodinville, WA; Hayden (Cayla) Murry of Tonganoxie, Kansas; Keaton (Bailey) Murry of Gladstone, Missouri.
He is also survived by four grandchildren; Cameron (6) and Emma (3) Macke, Will Murry, (23 months) and Chloe Murry (14 months). Chad is also survived by his mother Marjorie Murry, Bentonville, AR, sister, Vicki (Charley) Merrill of Bella Vista ,AR, sister, Nancy (Steve) Meighen of Kansas City, Missouri. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews: Stefanie (Oscar) Acosta of Olathe KS, Melanie Hurley of Bentonville, AR.; Jerry (Katie) Merrill of Olathe, KS and Brandon Merrill, Bentonville, AR. He is survived by two great nieces and one great nephew: Maddie Hurley (21) Macey Hurley (19) both of Bentonville, AR, and Titus Merrill (16) of Olathe, Kansas. Chad is also survived by many cousins that he loved dearly.
Chad was preceded in death by his father, William (Bill) Murry, Lenos and Wilma Meneely, Melvin and Meredith Littrell, Gerald and Peggy Littrell, Grandmother Edna Littrell, and Grandfather Buel Littrell. He was also proceeded in death by Otto and Tina Murry, Anne (Murry) and Scott Savage and Grandma Ruth Knouse.
Visitation will be held at the Wheeling Christian Church, Wheeling MO on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. The funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held at Wheeling Cemetery, Wheeling, MO. Friends may call at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, on Monday, January 12, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Donations can be made to ATP ministries where he volunteered many times throughout the years to help those in need or the Wheeling Christian Church where he was a member and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
