Frank E. Hipsher, 91, of Independence, Missouri passed away on January 27, 2026, at Centerpoint Hospital with family present. Frank was born on November 12, 1934, in New York City, New York; the son of Frank D. and Eleanor Hipsher. Visitation will be held from 3:00pm to 5:00pm on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, Missouri; followed by a service beginning at 5:00pm. Interment will be at the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Marceline, Missouri at a later date.
He graduated from Keytesville, Missouri High School in 1953 and joined the U.S. Navy after graduation. Frank married Harlean Shoop in 1956. While in the Navy, he served on the aircraft carrier USS Hornet. After he retired from the military, Frank had a second career as an Independence, Missouri Firefighter; retiring after 25 years of service. Frank enjoyed hunting with his sons and grandsons. He also enjoyed raising mules with his wife, Harlean. Their “magnitudious” mules were Missouri State Fair Champions, twice. Frank enjoyed time with his family and looked forward to gatherings with friends.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife Harlean, his parents, and his son-in-law, Tom Leap.
Frank is survived by his 4 children; Diane Leap, Ramona Lewis (Jeff), Darren Hipsher (Sharon), and Darryl Hipsher (Dana); 6 grandchildren, Megan, Braden, Patrick, Erika, Kiera and Jake; and great-granddaughter, Harper. Frank is also survived by his brother, Richard Hipsher (Sandra) and nieces Dawn and Brandy.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Oakland United Methodist Church, Buckner, Missouri.
