Allen Charles “A.C.” Morton, 82, of Slater, MO, died Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Big Bend Retreat in Slater.
Memorial graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 20, 2026, at Rehoboth Cemetery in Slater. Memorials are suggested to family choice in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home. An online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com.
Born April 25, 1943, in rural Saline County, he was the son of the late Amos Morton and Nannie Fizer Morton. A.C. lived in Saline County most of his life and in his younger years enjoyed working on farms. He worked at A & P Grocery Store for several years and then spent the vast majority of his work life as an over the road truck driver. Allen and his companion, Glenetta Burks, spent over 30 years together and made many memories through the years. Glenetta preceded him in death on December 12, 2022.
He is survived locally by Glenetta’s daughter, Connie Hughes (Dale) of Pleasant Hill, MO; their daughters, Kendall Brison (Jake) and their children, Lane and Brinlee Brison, and Shannon Riley (Levi) and their son, Walker Riley; A.C.’s three children are Shawn Morton (Gail) of Lee’s Summit, Shonda O’Dell of Kansas City, and Sama O’Dell of Rayville; their children, Christopher Morton, Blake Wrisinger, Elizabeth Wrisinger, Alex O’Dell, Douglas O’Dell, Elizabeth O’Dell, Kendra and Kinzie; as well numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
A.C. was preceded in death by his parents, Amos and Nannie Morton; his longtime companion, Glenetta Burks; a grandson, Dustin Morton; five brothers, Edward Morton, Kenneth Morton, Curtis Morton, George Morton, and Harold Morton; and four sisters, Lucille Durham, Mary Bryson, Betty Martin and Mildred Bryson.
