Jacqueline “Jackie” Ann Baskett, age 77, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026 at Morningside Center, Chillicothe, Missouri.
Jacqueline was born the daughter of James and Lila (Garrett) Lorenz on June 15, 1948 in Kirksville, Missouri. Jacqueline obtained her Master of Science in Education Degree in August of 1984. She was a teacher in the Meadville R-4 School District for over 42 years.
Jacqueline was Director of the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL) of Chillicothe, and loved playing bridge; she had even earned Silver Life Master status. She was a member of the Missouri Retired Teachers Association, Missouri State Teachers Association and the Chilli Red Hatters Society. While teaching at Meadville, she sponsored the National Honor Society, as well as the Junior High and High School Academic Teams. She was an avid fan of the MU Tigers, Royals Baseball and the Kansas City Chiefs. She enjoyed cooking and watching her grandchildren in all of their activities. They were her joy.
Survivors include one daughter, Stacy Proctor and husband, Royce, of Cameron, Missouri; one son, James Baskett, and wife, Yinsheng, of Kansas City, Missouri; one son-in-law, Dale Kirkland of Chillicothe, Missouri; six grandchildren, Bradley Ogle, Joshua Kirkland, Madelyn Proctor, Gavin Proctor, William Baskett and Isabel Baskett; one sister, Kathy Lowther and husband, Mike of Brookfield, Missouri; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Jacqueline was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Michelle Kirkland; and the father of her children, Donald Baskett.
Funeral services will be held at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, February 20, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. A scheduled visitation will be held at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, February 19, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, February 19, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be held at the Purdin Cemetery, Purdin, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Meadville R-4 School and/or ACBL of Chillicothe and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, PO Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri, 64601.
