Janice Sue Cochenour, age 86, a resident of Hale, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at her residence, Hale, Missouri.
Janice was born April 20, 1939, in Chillicothe, Missouri, the daughter of Jake and Helen (Silver) Clements.
Janice rode a horse to Leaton School, N.W. of Hale, for the first two years; then she went to Hale School, where she graduated in 1957. She worked at the ASCS office in Carrolton, Missouri, until her marriage to Kenneth R. Cochenour on October 26, 1958.
Then they moved to Independence, Missouri, where Kenneth was employed at Armco Steel. Janice worked at Montgomery Ward for a short time, then at Vendo Company in Kansas City. After Kenneth’s illness, they moved to Hale in 1969. Janice collected taxes and raised horses.
Besides her family, Janice enjoyed her horses and dancing.
She is survived by her son, Larry Cochenour and daughter-in-law, Wanda, of Brookfield, Missouri; a daughter, Lisa Clark and son-in-law, Darrell, of Meadville, Missouri; three grandchildren, Travis Cochenour, Monica Jackson (Josh) and Melissa Sherman (Mike); and five great-grandchildren, Ryder Cochenour, Krue Cochenour, Shylin Jackson, Landon Sherman and Emmelia Sherman. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents, and two brothers.
There will be a private family burial at Fairland Cemetery, Hale, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to Fairland Cemetery
or the Forrest O. Triplett Animal Shelter and may be left at the funeral home or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47,
Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
