Matthew Carl Wing, 22, of Seward, NE, formerly of Sweet Springs, MO, went home to his Lord and Savior, on Friday, March 13, 2026.
Matthew was born on January 23, 2004, in St. Louis, MO, and was the son of Rev. Daniel Steven Wing and Sara Elizabeth Colson Wing of Lincoln, NE. He was brought to the waters of Holy Baptism on February 1, 2004, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wood River, IL by the sainted Rev. Martin Schultz. He confirmed his Christian faith on May 4, 2019, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lincoln, NE. Matthew’s confirmation verse was Psalm 28:7a, “The Lord is my strength and my shield.”
Matt was raised in Sweet Springs, MO, and graduated from Sweet Springs High School in 2023. He then went to Concordia University in Seward, NE, and was currently a junior pursing his degree in secondary education. He was an avid runner and was a sprinter on the track team at college.
Matt met Bri Worley while on a church trip to Worlds of Fun in Kansas City in 2018. Their friendship turned into love and on May 24, 2025, Matt and Brianna were married. They were blessed to have had each other in their lives for the last 7 ½ years.
He is survived by his wife, Bri; his parents, Dan and Sara Wing of Lincoln, NE; one sister, Kaitlyn Kirby (Aaron) and their son, Nolan, of Sweet Springs; one brother, Andrew Wing of Lincoln, NE; maternal grandparents, Carl and Carolyn Colson; an aunt, Lori Colson, all of Sweet Springs; paternal grandparents, Dale and Kathleen Wing of Kalispell, MT; an uncle, Jamison Wing (JoAnna) of Meridian, ID; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Craig and Sarah Worley of Lincoln, NE; sister-in-law, Hadley Worley of Lincoln, NE; grandparents-in-law, Dan and Charlotte Worley of Raymond, NE and Paul and Lois Leckband of Norfolk, NE; as well as many other extended family members, friends, and his pet lizards.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2026, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 110 Main St., Sweet Springs, MO. Matt’s father, Rev. Dan Wing, will officiate the service. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2026, at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest donations be made to help with the medical expenses of their friend, Noah Ramirez, who was also in the accident with Matt. Checks should be made payable to Andrew Wing. A memorial service will also be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 724 S. 12th St., Lincoln, NE. An online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com
Matt’s love for the Lord was evident in everything that he did. As the Apostle Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 4:7, the very same could be said of Matthew’s life: “I have fought the good fight and I have finished the race with faith.”
“One more for the Kingdom.”
