Raymond Walter Becker, 88, with firm hope in the resurrection, was peacefully called to his eternal home with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, March 14, 2026.

Born on February 23, 1938, in Concordia, MO, Raymond was the youngest child of Henry L. and Hulda (Nierman) Becker. He was brought to the waters of Holy Baptism on March 13, 1938, and confirmed his Christian faith on April 6, 1952, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Concordia, MO. He was raised on the family farm north of Concordia, attending St. Paul’s Lutheran School and graduating from Concordia High School on May 3, 1956.

Raymond married the love of his life, Rosemary Brackman, on June 1, 1957, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Concordia, MO. Raymond enlisted in the United States Air Force on September 13, 1956, and spent the first thirteen months of married life away from his bride, in Trabzon, Turkey. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force on September 12, 1960. Early in their married life, Raymond and Rosemary lived in San Antonio, Texas; Manhattan, Kansas; and Dallas, Texas; before settling in their permanent home in Independence, Missouri on September 1, 1963.

Raymond and Rosemary’s marriage was blessed with two children, Crystal and Darrin. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and beloved Papa Becker to his great grandchildren. Raymond loved his family dearly and considered it a tremendous blessing to have them all living close by, which provided the opportunity to be involved in their daily lives and activities, and to teach and care for them on numerous occasions.

Raymond was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Independence, MO, where he served faithfully in many capacities throughout the past sixty-three years. He was grounded in his faith and deeply committed to sharing his hope in Jesus with others.

Raymond enjoyed traveling with Rosemary, having visited all fifty states and taking several cruises. He also loved tinkering with small engines in his backyard shed, watching Royal’s baseball, and driving his ’51 Ford pickup.

Raymond spent his career in the financial services industry, retiring on May 31, 2003, as President from Missouri Central Credit Union where he had been employed for 36 years. In retirement, he drove a delivery truck for O’Reilly Auto Parts in Independence, MO, from January 2008 through November 2022.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Rosemary, with whom he was blessed to spend nearly 69 years of marriage. He is also survived by his children, Crystal Hinck (Paul) and Darrin Becker (Debbie), both of Independence; grandchildren: Jordan Hinck (Ashley) of Independence, Jacob Hinck (Heather) and Aubrey Snaders (Casey), of Blue Springs, and Aden Becker of Independence; great-grandchildren: Landon Hinck, Tucker Hinck, Brinley Sanders, Collin Hinck, Beckett Sanders and Grace Hinck; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and their extended families.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Henry L. and Hulda Nierman Becker; five siblings: Florence Becker in infancy, Norbert Becker (Ruth), Elva Beerman (Herb), Homer Becker (Rose), and Verna Lohman (Donald); father-in-law and mother-in-law, Vernon and Helen Fricke; and brother-in-law, Roger Brackman (Shirley).

A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 613 S. Main, Independence, MO 64050. A second visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., followed by funeral services at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 401 S. Main, Concordia, MO 64020. Rev. Rick Kanoy will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Messiah Lutheran Church, Independence, MO, or Timothy Lutheran Ministries, Blue Springs, MO, in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home. An online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com
