Wayne Alan Lam, 69, of Richmond, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2026.
Wayne was born October 12, 1956, in Indianapolis, to Donald Lam, Sr., and Karolina VonHorst.
He was raised in Hardin, MO, and was a 1975 graduate of Hardin-Central High School. After graduation, Wayne was accepted into the United States Marine Corp. He later attended Wentworth Military Academy to further his education.
During his nearly 30 years of service with the United States Marine Corp and the Missouri National Guard, he had numerous tour of duties overseas.
Wayne enjoyed his service to the Hardin community while working for the Ray County and Hardin Special Road Districts for many years. Wayne had a great passion for classic cars.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Lam, Sr., his grandparents, Ralph and Nellie Lam, and his uncles and aunts, George (Elmyra) Lam, Kenneth (Annabelle) Lam, and Harold Lam.
He is survived by his son, John W. Lam of Kansas City, MO, brother, Donald Lam, Jr. of Hardin, MO, mother, Karolina VonHorst of Fort Myers, FL, uncle, Larry (Elaine) Lam of Hardin, MO, and aunt, Marilyn Lam of Tightwad, MO.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the local veterans association of your choice, in memory of Wayne. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.
Graveside services will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond is in charge of arrangements. Please remember to share your memories of Wayne with the family by visiting www.thurmanfuneralhome.com.
