Song of Solomon 2:10

“My beloved spoke, and said to me: ‘Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.”

What deep emotion this verse conveys! But has it occurred to you that Jesus has desires, too? One of them is an intense longing to have us with Him. It is with great joy and anticipation that He waits for us. Shortly before His earthly departure nearly two thousand years ago, Jesus said, “I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:2-3).

So, why aren’t we in heaven yet? Though Jesus seems to delay, it is momentary, and all current indications are that our new home is almost ready. And when it is, Jesus will whisper to all those who eagerly await His appearing, “Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.” Jesus is coming soon! What a moment of tremendous rejoicing that will be!

Sadly, for some, the soon-coming of Jesus sounds more like something to be feared rather than a blessing. Dear saint, know the nature and disposition of our loving Redeemer. His desire is that of One who longs for intimate communion with you, His bride.

Jesus will call us to Himself at just the right time. He will take us to a place that no mind can conceive, and our human imagination is incapable of envisioning—a place unlike any other.

“Even so, come, Lord Jesus” is to be our heart’s desire. Is it yours?

Awaiting His Return,
