2 Corinthians 3:18 “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
In writing to the Corinthian believers, Paul made it clear that the ministry of the Spirit in a believer’s life is glorious. This spiritual transformation happens, whether we are ready or not, and whether we perceive it or not. Yet most of us fail to recognize when God is at work. We too often see life as a series of upswings or downturns, but perhaps we should view our days differently.
The so-called “events of life” have the ability to conform us into the image of His Son (Romans 8:29) if we’ll let them. Once we realize that every circumstance, every encounter at work, school, and play, and anything else that comes across our path is God-engineered for our growth, life takes on a whole new dimension. When we look at life that way, the prospects for lasting change are unlimited. But first, we must behold the Son of God.
Have you gazed upon Jesus’s nail-scarred hands until His love moved deep within you? Has His tenderness toward sinners melted your heart as His was? Did you hear the wisdom in His voice as He answered those who came against Him with angry words? Is there an element of His sacrificial life—His humility, submission, and grace—that is lacking in your current circumstance?
I believe the ultimate change will come when Jesus calls us unto Himself in the Rapture of His church. Until that day, remain steadfast in Christ and grow into the man or woman He desires you to be.
