Lowell Edwin Hendrix, 96, of Millville, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2025, at Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond.
Lowell was born on February 12, 1929, in rural Ray County, the son of Austin Edward and Florence Ruth (Newton) Hendrix. He was united in marriage to Deana Dana of Knoxville on December 4, 1955; she survives of the home.
Additional survivors include: three sons: Kevin Lowell (Bea) Hendrix of Millville, Luther Edwin (Lisa) Hendrix of Liberty, and David William Hendrix of Hurst, TX; daughter, Karen Dana (Monte) Bailey of Sunrise Beach; 10 grandchildren: Megan (Cory) Crook, Dr. Matthew (Erin) Hendrix, Morgan Hendrix (Rachel Hughes), Samuel (Casey) Hendrix, Clay Hendrix, Madison Hendrix, Sarah (Jeremy) Courtney, Melissa Hendrix, Daniel (Raven) Hendrix, and Denise (Jason) Bogema; 14 great-grandchildren: Ivy Crook, Cas Crook, Alena Hendrix, Abel Hendrix, Maya Hendrix, Zoe Hendrix, Kristin Courtney, Kendall Courtney, Savannah Bauman, Kurtis Hendrix, Kade Hendrix, Tyler Klee, Landon Klee, and Delaney Mahon; and sister, Dorthea Grady of Cameron.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, John Franklin Hendrix, James Russell Hendrix, George Prosper Hendrix, Daniel Eugene Hendrix, and Herbert Austin Hendrix, and sister, Florene May Hendrix.
Lowell was raised and educated in the community where he was born. He went on to complete business school in Chillicothe before proudly serving his country during the Korean Conflict. Following his honorable discharge from the United States Army, Lowell returned home and married the love of his life. Together, they built a life and raised their family on their farm near Millville.
In addition to his devotion to farming, Lowell retired from Ford Motor Company after 26 years and was a proud member of the United Auto Workers Local #149. While he enjoyed his work, his greatest passion was farming and caring for his cattle. Lowell also cherished time spent with his family and friends and was a devoted member of the Millville United Methodist Church, where he faithfully served his community.
Visitation with memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M., with services to follow at 11:00 A.M. Military honors to be provided by the United States Army and Ray County Veterans. Inurnment will be held at a later date by the family.
