David Lynn Harms, 78, of Concordia, MO, died Friday, November 7, 2025, at his home, surrounded by loved ones.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Concordia with William W. Harlow officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Born August 25, 1947, in Warrensburg, MO, he was the son of the late Richard Herman Claus Harms and Freda Bertella Kück from rural Concordia. He lived in Concordia and Emma his entire life. He joined the U.S. Army serving from 1966-1968. He spent 1968 in Vietnam, where he served in the 9th Infantry Division. Upon his return, he worked for Lake City, then Robey Flandemeyer. He worked as a heavy equipment operator at Damon Purcell for 27 years. He was a member of Operator Engineers Local 101. On July 27, 1984, in Miami, OK, he married Linda Kay Eckhoff Phillips.
Dave is survived by his three sons: Allen Phillips (Christina) of Sweet Springs, Robert Phillips of Emma and Scott Phillips (Sindy) of Lee’s Summit; his grandchildren: Trevor Phillips (Kendra) of Marshall, Emily Phillips (Nathan Brock) of Sedalia, Wade Phillips of Columbia, Remus Phillips and Cora Phillips both of Lee’s Summit; and two siblings, Maxine (Ruthie) Charles of Lee’s Summit, MO and Steve Harms (Marcea) of Golden, MO.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda; both parents; his siblings: Eugene Harms of Concordia, Frank Harms of Concordia, Fred Harms of Oak Grove, Benjamin (Ben) Harms of Auburn, WA, Mary Tucker of Zephyrhills, FL, and Lilyann Craelius of Redding, CA.
