Keytesville, MO — Keytesville R-III School District announced that Superintendent Will Perkins will retire from his full-time role at the end of the 2025–26 school year, closing out a remarkable 31-year career in education. Perkins’ tenure includes 21 years as a superintendent and 24 years in administration, earning him widespread respect for his dedication, leadership, and commitment to student success.
Since joining Keytesville R-III three years ago, Perkins has made a lasting impact on the district, strengthening academic programs, fostering staff development, and supporting major district initiatives that benefit students and the community alike.
“When you’ve done something for this long, it’s hard to walk away completely,” Perkins said.
“I am excited to continue to help, but I am also looking forward to having a little more free time.
I love the Keytesville School and Community, and I am thankful to have worked with the best school board, staff, and parents a superintendent could ever ask for.
Keytesville has so much to be proud of, and I am grateful that my family has had the chance to be a part of it.”
A Thoughtful Transition
The Keytesville R-III Board of Education plans to interview internal candidates for the superintendent position, with applications due by November 25. Perkins will assist the new superintendent with the transition, ensuring continued stability and progress for the district.
Continuing His Impact
Even after stepping back from full-time responsibilities, Perkins will remain involved part-time to support several major district initiatives, including:
- Oversight of bond construction projects beginning this spring
- Continued improvement in student achievement and academic performance
- Ongoing staff development programs
- Financial advising and district budgeting
Perkins also plans to keep his son, Kanon, enrolled in Keytesville schools, maintaining his connection to the community he has served so passionately.
The district expressed heartfelt appreciation for Perkins’ service, noting that his leadership has strengthened Keytesville R-III’s reputation for academic excellence, community engagement, and student success. Perkins’ contributions will leave a lasting mark on the district and the community for years to come.
