Sharon Kay Settle, 82, of Richmond, passed away Monday, February 9, 2026, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.
Sharon was born on October 18, 1943, in Kansas City, the daughter of Robert L. and Rowena A. (Kennedy) Cain. She was united in marriage to William “Bill” G. Settle of Richmond on March 16, 1962; he preceded her in death on March 19, 2017.
Survivors include: two daughters, Micaela (Dann Javner) Settle of Richmond and Melissa (Tim) Phillips of Fort Myers Beach, FL; two grandchildren, Caleb (Ashley) Phillips and Alex (Bri) Phillips-Anglin; two great-grandchildren, Coy Phillips and Cree Phillips; and two sisters, Michelle Taylor of Independence and Terri Noland of Lawson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Kenny Cain, and sister, Sandra Lee Cain.
Sharon was raised and educated in Richmond and was a proud member of the Richmond High School Class of 1961. She later became an active member of Beta Sigma Phi in her hometown, where she formed lasting friendships and remained devoted to her community.
Sharon was truly the matriarch of her family. She was always doing what needed to be done, putting her loved ones first, and being there for them in every way. Her family was her greatest purpose and pride. She cherished time spent together – whether traveling, sharing a home-cooked meal, or simply enjoying one another’s company. Her grandchildren held a very special place in her heart, and she loved celebrating their lives and accomplishments.
She loved being out and about and especially enjoyed visiting with others. Sharon never met a stranger and found joy in conversation and connection. She had a flair for fun and style, never missing an opportunity to wear her favorite “bling.”
Christmas was her most cherished season. She delighted in decorating her home, celebrating the holiday with loved ones, and adding to her beloved Santa Claus collection year after year. The joy she found at Christmas reflected the joy she brought to others.
Sharon was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She will be dearly missed by her family, her many friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Shirkey Hospice. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.
Visitation with funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with visitation beginning at 1:00 P.M., with services to follow at 2:00 P.M. Burial will be in Todd’s Chapel Cemetery, Richmond. Please remember to share your memories of Sharon with the family by visiting www.thurmanfuneralhome.com.
