Lois Katherine “Katie” ( Sloop ) Pautz, age 93, passed away peacefully at Country Club Healthcare Center in Warrensburg on May 2nd, 2026.

Born in Jefferson County, Kansas on July 16th 1932, she was the first of four children to Joseph Hemple Sloop Jr. and Lois Sadie ( Fulton ) Sloop.

Katherine graduated high school in Oskaloosa, Kansas in 1950. The same year, on August 14th she married Raymond Pautz Jr. They then moved to Brown County, Kansas. Three children were born to this marriage. Ray’s work brought the family to Warrensburg, Missouri in 1969.

Katherine worked for United Telephone / Sprint from 1970 to 1994.Ray and Katie were both very active in HAM radio in the Warrensburg area. They also started a scholarship with the ARRL Foundation that is available to amateurs holding a general license. She was also active in the Ladies Ararat Shrine in Kansas City, Missouri. Outside of social activities, Katie’s time was spent flower and vegetable gardening, being a good cook, and enjoying pleasing others, Holiday meals were always special to attend, you never left the table hungry. She really enjoyed her family.

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Donald Ray: grandson, Jeffrey Don; brother, Joseph H. Sloop III; sister, Dorothy J Welch.

Those left to cherish her memory are daughter, Jan and Joe Conklin; son, Ed and Virginia Pautz; sister-in-law, Glenda Sloop; brother and spouse, George D. and Nancy Sloop; brother-in-law, Dudley Pautz; daughter-in-law, Pam Cart; grandchildren, Aaron Conklin, Justin and Caitlin Smith Conklin, Spencer Conklin, Jamie Locker, Brandon Locker; grand-daughter-in-laws, Casey Stephens Conklin, Aubree Collins and Amber Locker; great-grandchildren, Rowen, Asher, Jade, Julian, Elias, Cami, Paige and spouse Jesse, Kaden and to be spouse Jaycie, Johnnie, Bryson; many nieces and nephews, friend and neighbor Carolyn Saunders; and many other acquaintances.

A celebration of life gathering will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg, Missouri.

Burial will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery in Hiawatha, Kansas at a later date.
