The US and Iran have reportedly agreed to halt attacks and hold talks in Qatar’s capital of Doha this week after exchanging fire through the weekend and threatening the fragile 60-day memorandum of understanding. A senior US official told Axios on Sunday, “We decided to stop all the kinetic activity.” Talks are scheduled for Tuesday to address disagreements over the Strait of Hormuz. Iran struck vessels in the Strait on Friday and Saturday after disagreement over Iran charging “transit fees” to transit the waters.
