Conalie “Rosie” Reid, 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 9, 2026, under the care of hospice.
Rosie was born on January 30, 1939, in Brookfield, MO, the daughter of Eddie Couch and Lillian (Gosney) Couch. She graduated from Brookfield High School with the class of 1957. Rosie was a veteran of the United States Army. Her job title was a cryptographer. In 1960 she was honorably discharged.
In June of 1960, Rosie was united in marriage to Owen Isaacs. In this union two sons were born Eddie and Lowell. Rosie and Owen later divorced. In 1969, she then married Laurel Reid.
Rosie was a fighter til the end. Her greatest fear was leaving her family and friends that she loved so much but her memories she created will continue to live on through them.
While living in Brookfield, MO. Rosie owned a bar called the Klondike. Later she and Laurel moved to Springfield, MO. where Rosie began working at Hudson Foods also now known as Willow Brook Foods. She worked there for many years until her retirement. She loved to hunt and fish but deer and turkey season were her favorites. Rosie had a special place in her heart for animals, especially her dog Hunter who brought her endless joy and companionship.
Rosie was a true and proud veteran. She was very involved with the Brookfield, Marceline, and Springfield Eagles. She was a lifelong member of the Brookfield Presbyterian Church, she had been a part of the Memorial Services held at the Rose Hill Cemetery for 59 years where she proudly sang “Sleep Soldier Boy”. Rosie also worked with a committee in honoring the Eagle members at a Veterans Celebration every Veterans Day in November. She also worked with the Hillcrest High School Jr. ROTC in Springfield for over 15 years and later was inducted into their Hall of Fame.
Rosie earned numerous awards for her countless volunteer hours and hard work. She worked bingo for the Auxiliary and Aerie. Raising money for charities was very important to her. Most importantly, her proudest volunteer work was being a member with the Military Funeral Honors Guard where she was the chaplain on the honor team and played taps.
In 2023, after being on a long waiting list Rosie received the news that she was going to Washington, D.C, with the Honor Flight Team to visit the memorials. After arriving home, she was asked to do an interview on the radio about her experience which she proudly accepted.
Rosie is survived by two sons, Eddie Isaacs (Deana) Keokuk, IA. and Lowell Isaacs (Jewell) McKee, Kentucky. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Eric (Cara) Isaacs, Evan Isaacs, Rosemary (Matthew) Watson, Owen J. Isaacs, and Trista (Brent) Arvin. Eight great grandchildren, Easton Isaacs, McKinley Isaacs, Nathaniel (Alisha) Watson, Noah Watson, Lillianna Watson, Bobbie Acuff, Roy Arvin, and Brittany Arvin; niece, Laura (Mills) Duerbeck, and numerous friends whom she called family.
Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Laurel, and sister, Irene.
Graveside services will be held at Parklawn Memorial Garden Cemetery, Brookfield, MO; on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. with Military Honors. Following the graveside services the Brookfield Eagles Lodge Arie 2463 in Brookfield, MO; will be hosting a Celebration of Life.
