Another Ebola outbreak is ravaging the Congo. There are hundreds of suspected cases, and at least 80 people have died in one day in the eastern Ituri province. This is the 17th outbreak of Ebola in the Congo in the last 50 years. Ebola is a hemorrhagic fever that has a high fatality rate in human beings. Symptoms include high fever, muscle pain, vomiting, and external bleeding. The consumption of contaminated monkey meat, also known as “bushmeat,” is known to transmit Ebola to humans.
