In testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on June 2, 2026, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said, “The Lebanese government and the Israeli government could do a peace deal tomorrow. Israel has no territorial claims in Lebanon. Hezbollah has called for the overthrow of the current Lebanese government.
