Patricia Gale “Pat” Shawn, 80, of Bucklin, MO, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Pioneer Skilled Nursing in Marceline, MO.
Pat was born on September 25, 1944, in Chillicothe, MO, the daughter of Orville and Helen (Pittman) McClain. She grew up in Kansas City, KS, and graduated from Turner High School with the Class of 1962. On February 2, 1963, she was united in marriage to D.A. “Don” Shawn III in Kansas City, KS.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Pat dedicated much of her life to caring for children. She owned and operated a daycare, where she not only provided for families but also became a cherished part of their lives. She especially loved spending time with her family and the many children she cared for over the years.
She is survived by her husband, Don of the home; her son, Kevin Shawn and wife Tracy of Oxford, MS; two grandchildren, Kayla (Jake) Shaver of Oxford, MS, and Derrick (Elsie) Shawn of Marion, AR; four great-grandchildren, Joy Shawn, Atticus Shaver, Hope Shawn, and one on the way. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, who loved her dearly, including Nancy Thomas, Joey Poindexter, Brian Shawn, Phillip Shawn, Will Shawn, Terry Gautreaux, Tim Mason, Melanie, Jackie, Kim, Charlene Wright, Keith, Kaylyn, Ana Gautreaux, Nick Gautreaux, Joel Gautreaux, Sean Gautreaux, Isabella Poindexter, Lexi Poindexter, and Levi Poindexter.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Gary, Orville Jr., and Sondra; and other loved ones who went before her.
A private graveside service will be held at Bucklin Masonic Cemetery in Bucklin, MO, with Pastor Richard Casady officiating. Visitation will be Friday, September 12, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Delaney Funeral Home in Bucklin, MO.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bucklin Masonic Cemetery or the Linn County Humane Society.
