Nancy Lee Norris, 86, of Richmond, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at North Kansas City Hospital.
Nancy was born on November 9, 1939, in Jennings, the daughter of Clarence and Sarah (Haws) Meeker. She was first united in marriage to Jack Shockley of Richmond on December 9, 1961; he preceded her in death on November 5, 2013. She was later united in marriage to Kenneth “Kenny” Norris of Richmond.
Survivors include: husband, Kenny Norris of Richmond; three sons: Michael Shockley of Excelsior Springs, Jeffrey Shockley of Richmond, and Thomas Shockley of Excelsior Springs; two granddaughters, Valerie Shockley and Chloe Shockley; she is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and first husband, Nancy was preceded in death by four brothers, Leroy Meeker, Clarence Meeker, Joe Meeker, and Ralph Meeker.
Nancy never met a stranger and had a true gift for conversation. She loved people and found great joy in visiting with family and friends, especially those she held closest to her heart. Music was one of her greatest passions-whether playing the piano or singing, it was something she loved to share. Nancy also enjoyed the simple pleasure of searching for treasures at garage sales and thrift stores. In her later years, she and her second husband spent winters in Texas, where they embraced the warm weather, music jams, and evenings spent dancing, creating many special memories together.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Eagleton Center. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.
Visitation with memorial services will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with visitation beginning at 1:00 P.M., with services to follow at 2:00 P.M.
