Doris Jean Demarest, age 95, of Brookfield, MO; went to her eternal home September 8, 2025, very peacefully in her sleep.
Doris Jean was born on February 21, 1930, the daughter of Numan William and Iva Blanch (Lile) Turner in South Eagle, MO; On October 17, 1952, she married Lavern Lane Demarest at the Trinity United Methodist church in Brookfield. He preceded her in death on October 13, 2014.
Doris worked at the phone company in Brookfield when Brookfield first got telephones. She starting out as a phone operator and then later became a clerk. She clerked for the phone company until she retired. Doris was a member of the South Eagle Church. She liked going to auctions sales and sewing. Doris and Lavern enjoyed traveling out west to see the mountains of Colorado and Wyoming. They had so many happy memories of Yellowstone National Park. But the happiest place for Doris was on the farm in South Eagle, with her dog, running errands for Lavern, and spending time with her family. Her family was her everything.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Janet Shelton and husband Ron of Bucklin; grandchildren, Daniel Farris and wife Breanna of San Antonio, Sean Smith and wife Stephanie of Davenport, and Robert Shelton and wife Lynn of Newtown; great grandchildren, Eric, Greta, Lenna, Traven, Case and wife Katie, Cale, and Colemen; great-great grandchildren, Serenity, Easton, Weston, and Paisley; and several other nieces, nephews, and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Iva and Numan; husband, Lavern; daughter, Cindy; and grandson, Coy.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm. Friday, September 26, 2025, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Brookfield, MO; with Jerry Stone officiating. Arrangements entrusted to the care and direction of Rhodes Funeral Home in Brookfield, MO.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donation are to SEV (Saving Every Victim) and can be left at or mailed to Rhodes Funeral Home, 216 Linn Street, Brookfield, MO. 64628
