George Edward Laurence age 77, a resident of Chillicothe, MO passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at his residence. George was born the son of Fred and Edith Viola Burress Laurence March 15, 1948 in Trenton MO He was united in marriage to Joyce Elaine “Peterson” Laurence June 29, 1968, in Trenton, MO Joyce proceeded him in death September 16, 2021. George worked at Cooke Sales and Service for over 40 years. He enjoyed spending time with his dog, Randy, his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Survivors include his beloved dog, Randy, his two daughters Lisa York and husband Aaron of Chillicothe MO, Lona Ratliff and husband Jason of Western Kansas, four grandchildren: Deryck (Taylor) Koenig, Nick (Courtney) Koenig, Koltyn (Reagan) Ratliff, and Jena Rai Ratliff, and several great grandchildren. One brother, Freddie (wife Darlene) California, one sister Carolyn of Kansas, brothers in law Kenneth Peterson and wife Suzanne of North Carolina, Jim Peterson and wife Linda of Columbia MO, and Marvin Peterson and wife Linda of Chillicothe, three sisters in law Delores Shafer of Chillicothe MO, Linda Peterson of Brookfield MO, Betty Peterson of Chillicothe MO. Several nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, one brother Dale, two sisters Doris Thurman (John), Viola Dunn (Harry), brothers in law Jack Shafer, Wayne Peterson, Garry Peterson, and Jack Gurley. Four sisters in law Nadine Laurence, Debbie Peterson, Carol Ann Peterson, and Ella Jo Peterson.
Cremation was held. Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, October 12, 2025 at “The Farm” from 1:00-3:00pm. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice or left at Heritage Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at Heritage Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home.
