Glenn was born on June 9,1948, in Batesville, Arkansas, to the late Robert H. Baker and Helen E. (Moore) Baker. Glenn married Dianna Marie (Harris) Dixon on May 17, 1975, in Marshall. Diane and Glenn shared 50 years of marriage before his passing.
A proud achievement in Glenn’s life was serving in the United States Navy as a DT3 (Dental Technician), with his last duty station being in Naples, Italy. After he was discharged from the Navy, he attended the police academy in Jefferson City, MO. He served the citizens of the Cities of Sedalia and Marshall as a police officer. He was ranked as a Sergeant with the Marshall Police Department. In the early 1980’s, Glenn began a new career in the grocery industry. Prior to this, he had worked part-time at Butch’s IGA while at the police department. Glenn worked at Jim’s IGA as the produce manager, and later the nighttime assistant manager before going to Wal-Mart to work in the produce department before his retirement due to his health.
Glenn had a great love for Christmas! He enjoyed portraying Santa Claus wearing his vintage suit that his mother had lovingly restored for him. Diane would make sure his wig and beard were perfectly styled, and away he would go, bells jingling to spread Christmas cheer. In the early 1980s he was interviewed by a Kansas City Star reporter about his extensive holiday light display. Glenn collected Santa Claus memorabilia and had large collection. Glenn was the epitome of Clark Griswald, even before it was a thing! He enjoyed
Christmas movies, holiday music, and hosting many holiday gatherings for family and friends. Glenn was raised in the Assembly of God faith.
He is survived by his wife, Diane, of the home; two children: Tracy Crumbaugh of Marshall and Patrick Baker of Nelson; two grandchildren: Brett Crumbaugh (Lizz) of St. Charles, MO, and Nathan Crumbaugh (Kelly) of Marshall; three great-grandchildren; Carson, Owen, and Abigail Crumbaugh all of St. Charles; and numerous nieces and nephews. His wife, kids, grandkids, and his family were his life and enjoyed spending as much time with them as he could.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Betty Baker.
