Forrest “Frosty” Dale Garr, age 84, a resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at StoneBridge Senior Living, Chillicothe, Missouri.
Forrest was born the son of Alton and Daisy (Bower) Garr on July 4, 1941, at the family home, in Chillicothe, Missouri. He was a 1959 graduate of Chillicothe High School. Forrest served in the United States Army from 1963 until 1965 during the Vietnam War tour. On December 3, 1971, he was united in marriage to Shirley Boley, at the First Presbyterian Church in Chillicothe, Missouri. She survives of the home.
Forrest was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri. He was also a member of the VFW, American Legion and the Carpenter Union 310. Forrest worked for Irvinbilt Construction Company as a carpenter for many years. After retiring, he enjoyed farming and doing some carpentry work on the side. Forrest had a passion for music. He loved playing the fiddle, often playing at family gatherings and other functions. His love for music led him to teaching his children to play the guitar and other musical instruments. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Chillicothe, Missouri; one son, Matt Garr (Regina) of Olathe, Kansas; two daughters, Janilla Cranmer (Roman) of Chillicothe, Missouri and Rebecca Humphreys (Trae) of Wrightstown, Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Kayanna Cranmer, Quentin Cranmer, Aiden Humphreys and Croix Humphreys; two brothers, Freddie Garr of Chillicothe, Missouri and Stanley “Pete” Garr (Dorothy) of Mooresville, Missouri; two sisters, Mary Underwood of Chillicothe, Missouri, and Carolyn Johnson (Elden) of Chillicothe, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Donald Garr; and two sisters, Gracie Evans and Frances Crouch.
Funeral services will be held at Liberty United Methodist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, January 30, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. A scheduled visitation will be held at Liberty United Methodist Church, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Friends may call at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, Missouri, on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Burial will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Liberty United Methodist Church and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
