William Dale Smith, 84, of Carrollton, Missouri.
It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of a devoted husband, father, and lifelong farmer, whose hands were as steady in the soil as his heart was in his home. Dale passed peacefully at Carroll House on May 4, 2026
Dale was born to Horace and Frances Smith November 23, 1941. He attended Bogard schools, where he graduated.
Dale was a man who found his purpose in the rhythm of the land-rising with the sun, tending his fields with quiet determination, and taking pride in the life he and his brothers built from the ground up. Farming wasn’t just his work; it was his calling, a reflection of his patience, resilience, and unwavering dedication.
Above all, he was a family man. He shared a deep and enduring love with his wife, the kind built on years of partnership, laughter, and standing side by side through every season of life. Together, they created a home rooted in warmth, faith, and steadfast support since 1969.
As a father, he was a guiding force-strong, dependable, and full of quiet wisdom. He taught his children the value of hard work, honesty, and kindness, not just through words, but through the way he lived each day. His love for them was constant and unconditional, a legacy that will continue to shape their lives forever.
He will be remembered for his gentle strength, his humble spirit, and the deep love he gave so freely to those around him. His memory lives on in the fields he tended, the family he cherished, and the countless lives he touched.
He is survived by his beloved wife Nancy and children, David Garretson (Michele) of Kansas City, Sherri Collier (Ralph) of Kansas City, Kelly Harvey (Randy) of Cantonment FL, and Amy Day (Chuck) of Cantonment FL who will carry his love with them always. Dale also loved his grandchildren deeply, Levi Garretson (Jessica) of Seattle WA, Ian Garretson of Kansas City, Blake Smith (Christina) of Carrollton, Dawson Day (Caden) of Cantonment FL, Dillon Harvey (Madyson) of Republic, MO, and Jaxon Harvey (Brittney) of Kansas City and Jacob Collier of Kansas City. Dale had 2 nephews, Dennis Smith of Houston Tx and Doug Smith of Carrollton.
Dale also had 1 great grandchild, Avery, he was so fond of.
Dale was preceded in death by his father and mother, Horace and Frances Smith, his brothers Jim, Charles and Don Smith.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 8, 2026 at the Bittiker Funeral Home, in Carrollton, Missouri.
