Melanie was born on October 27, 1967, in Sweet Springs, Missouri to Merton Calvin and Martha Loretta (Cramer) Bartels.
Melanie’s journey was marked by dedication both to her family and to those around her. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Central Missouri State University, an achievement that laid a foundation for a meaningful career. She worked diligently in the warehouse for Amazon, where her commitment and work ethic were respected by colleagues and friends alike.
A woman of many talents and interests, Melanie found joy in sewing-crafting with patience and care-and in selflessly helping others in need. Her giving nature was evident in her proudest accomplishments: regularly donating blood to support those in critical need and teaching karate alongside her son, Alexander, sharing not only skill but also discipline, confidence, and love.
Melanie’s heart was full when surrounded by family. One of the most cherished memories she held dear was her wedding day on June 28, 1996, when she married Daniel Leith in a beautiful ceremony at the First Baptist Church of Grandview, Missouri.
Together, they built a life founded on love and mutual respect. Melanie was a devoted mother to their son, Alexander Leith, who shared many special moments with her, including karate lessons that deepened their bond.
Along with both her parents, Melanie was preceded in death by two brothers, Milton “Mick” Bartels and James Bartels.
Melanie is survived by her loving husband, Daniel A. Leith of the home, a cherished son, Alexander Leith; two sisters, Debra (Dale) Renkoski and Sue Lanham; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
