Charles Ralph Greener, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 8th, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on May 26th, 1941, the son of Charles R. and Ina R. (Keith) Greener, in his lifelong hometown of Chillicothe, Missouri.
A proud graduate of Chillicothe High School in 1959, Charles went on to serve as an Aviation Crew Chief for TWA and American Airlines, dedicating 35 years of his life to the industry before retiring in 2002. He took great pride in his work.
Charles was a man of many interests. He had a deep love for hunting, fishing, and watching football, especially cheering on his favorite team, the Kansas City Chiefs. He enjoyed attending car shows and the drag strip in Osborn. He had a particular fondness for strawberry milkshakes, never chocolate. Charles also appreciated the simple pleasures of life, such as a good watermelon and homegrown tomatoes from roadside produce stands. He loved family farm time. A Christmas dinner with the family on the Saturday before Christmas was his time with the whole family. He cherished this day every year.
Above all, Charles cherished his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia Ann Greener, who he often praised for her beauty and grace. Together, they built a loving family that includes one son, Gregory Wendt and his wife Traci of Cameron, Missouri; two daughters, Pam Hartley and her husband Ronnie of Cameron, Missouri, and Amanda Brown and her husband Stan of Sedalia, Missouri. Charles was a proud grandfather to 19 grandchildren: Kaylene, Keya, Tosha, John, Bobby, Beth Ann, Jennifer, Nicole, Thomas, Charlie, Ashley, Parker, Trent, Max, Ben, Austin, Madison, Taylar, and Brody. He also leaves behind 29 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Charles is also survived by his brothers, Ronald Greener and Gary Greener (Sandy) of Chillicothe, Missouri; and his sisters, Beverly Childers of Chillicothe, Missouri, and Joanne Erickson (Bill) of Lathrop, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles R. Greener and Ina R. Greener, as well as his children, Clayton Greener, Ralph Greener, Jeff Wendt, and Chriscinda Greener, and his brother, James “Jimmy” Greener.
