Born April 30, 1953, in Marshall, he was the son of the late Floyd Raymond Malan and Mildred Grace “Millie” Merrell Malan. Gary lived in Marshall his entire life and was a 1971 graduate of Marshall High School. On July 31, 2006, he married Holly Hundley who preceded him in death on September 12, 2018. Gary was a hard worker throughout his life and had been employed at Wilson Foods, a self-employed subcontractor, electrician at Marshall Electrical Company, Galaxy Cablevision, but was probably best known for his nearly 30 years of service with what started at Marshall Cable TV, and after many name changes, ended with Zito Media when he retired. Gary loved anything to do with cars, including drag racing, as well as camping and just simply hanging out with his friends. He was an avid pitch player and loved playing all games as well as watching football (Chiefs and Mizzou in particular).
Gary is survived by two children, Nick Malan of Marshall and Allison Malan of Miami, FL; two grandchildren, Aiden Ray Malan and Arya Rivera; two stepchildren and their families, Josh Hundley and Cheyenne Green; one sister, Lois Jeannie Mueller, and husband Austin, of Des Moines, IA; the mother of his children, Misty Malan of Lake Ozark; as well as other family members and many friends.
