Gerald “Jerry” Wayne Calvert, 81, of Brunswick, Missouri died Saturday July 11, 2026 at his home. Jerry was born February 21, 1945 in Moberly Missouri and is the son of Gerald J. and Anna M. (Woolridge) Calvert. He married Ann Marie Kuhn on March 27, 1979 in Miami, Oklahoma, and she preceded Jerry in death on February 25, 2025. Jerry was a graduate of Keytesville High School, Class of 1963. He was drafted in 1966 and went on to serve in the United States Army Security Service during the Vietnam War. He received the Vietnam service medal with four bronze stars. After completing his military service, Jerry returned to civilian employment and from 1970s to 1990. He was employed as a Field Service Engineer, traveling the U.S. and other areas of the world for two major construction equipment manufacturers. In early 1990, he decided to start his own hydraulic business in Brunswick with Ann. His service area required traveling in Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, and Illinois. Jerry’s grandson, Tyler Barnett, was involved with the company since he was big enough to hold a wrench and in 2016 Jerry semi-retired and Tyler acquired ownership of Calvert’s Hydraulic Service Co. Even after retirement, Jerry continued to show up daily to the shop to offer advice, give instructions, and visit customers. Jerry also served the town of Brunswick as Mayor from 2012-2014 In Jerry’s spare time, he loved attending car shows and tinkering with his collectable cars. He was extremely proud of his 1964 Ford Galaxy 500, his 1948 Chevy flatbed, and his 1984 El Camino. He enjoyed attending his great-grandsons baseball and basketball games, managing 15 acres of pecans trees, restoring Allis-Chalmers tractors, and being involved in City of Brunswick committees. Jerry was a continuous member of Rucker McAllister American Legion Post #7 in Brunswick, MO for 41 years. He is a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post #4926 in Carrollton, MO. Jerry is survived by his son Mitchell (Laurel) Calvert of Branson, MO, stepsons Mark (Mary) Barnett of Brunswick, MO, Eric (Carrie) Barnett of Marshall, MO, stepdaughter Melissa (Wayne) Gingell of Prairie Village, KS; seven grandchildren, Tyler (Debbie) Barnett, Danielle Miller, Victoria Barnett, Jessica Barnett, Joe Barnett, Colten (Natalie) Calvert, and Avery Calvert; multiple great-grandchildren including Sawyer, Paxton, Lincoln, and Cannon Barnett, Wren and Weston Calvert, Liam and Alba Miller, Erika Judson, Caine, Kipton, and Greta Barnett, and Nevaeh Whalen; and a brother John Calvert of Keytesville, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ann, brother Richard Calvert, and infant sister Joyce Elaine. Visitation is Thursday, July 16, 2026 from noon-2 p.m., with services following at 2:00 p.m. at the Summerville Funeral Home in Salisbury, MO. Military graveside services will follow at the Asbury Cemetery south of Keytesville, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to the Asbury Cemetery Association.
