Cindy Lou Montgomery, of Sumner, MO; passed away Monday afternoon, July 6, 2026, at her home in Sumner, MO.
Cindy Lou was born August 10, 1962, the daughter of Paul Lloyd and Patricia Lou (Lehman) Holtman, in Norfolk, NE. On June 6, 1988, she married John Wayne Montgomery in Brookfield, MO. He preceded her in death on June 23, 2025.
Cindy was a homemaker, tending to all of her family needs. She enjoyed cooking, grilling outside, and visiting. Some called her Mother Goose by the way she looked after everyone, but her family, friends, and community meant everything to her. Cindy will be remembered for her quick wit, great sense of humor, and for having a mind of her own. Cindy also found joy and peace in life’s simple pleasures, like spending time outside enjoying nature.
Cindy is survived by her five daughters, Melissa Holtman of Sumner, MO; April Waltz of Sumner, MO; Tricia Montgomery of Sumner, MO; Heather Montgomery of Chillicothe, MO; and Sherry Montgomery of Sumner, MO; one son, Kamron Hoag of Chillicothe, MO; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; one sister Kellie Holtman of Kansas City; and several other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John Montgomery, and one brother, Mike Holtman.
A Visitation to Celebrate the Life of Cindy Montgomery will be held from 4:00 pm. to 6:00 pm. Monday, July 20, 2026, at the Rhodes Funeral Home, Brookfield, MO; the family will be receiving friends at this time. Arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Rhodes Funeral Home, Brookfield, MO.
