Norma Mittelhauser, 81, of Mayview, died on September 12, 2025 at St. Luke’s East, surrounded by loved ones.
She was born on a very hot Saturday, August 12, 1944, in Lexington to Albert and Alva (Woodruff) Hoeppner. She was the only one of her siblings to be born in a hospital. She grew up in Mayview and graduated from Mayview R7 where she participated in basketball, cheerleading and Betty Crocker. Norma married her high school sweetheart, David Mittelhauser on October 17, 1965, at Zion United Church of Christ. She retired as a telephone operator for Citizens Telephone. But her true calling was as a loving wife, mother and grandmother and great grandmother. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband; two brothers, Wayne and Bill Hoeppner; niece Julie Hoeppner. She is survived by: Daughters: Dana McGinnis of Odessa Amy Burns of Higginsville Brother: Allen Hoeppner of Mayview 5 Grandchildren: Jared McGinnis, Tyler Johnson (Kelsay), Austin McGinnis (Brittany), Trent McGinnis (Bailey), Kristen Johnson (Lane Peters) 5 Great Grandchildren: Emma and Theo Johnson; Silas, Riggs and Jackson McGinnis.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 16th, from 6-8 pm, at Kaiser ~Wiegers Funeral Home, Higginsville. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 17th, at 10 am at Zion United Church of Christ, Mayview, officiated by Pastor John Chaplin and Dr. Allen Gatewood. Casket Bearers will be Mike Hoeppner, Mark Hoeppner, Andy Hoeppner, Doug Hoeppner, Jeff Hoeppner, Scott Wright. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Jim Begemann, Jay Dailey, Wendell Starkebaum, Carl Hoeppner, Darrell Fiegenbaum, Bill Bainbridge, Kenny Jungerman. She will be buried in the Salem Cemetery in Higginsville.
