Alongside his humor, Cody was a devout Christian whose faith guided his life and relationships. He was a member of New Life Church of Oak Grove, Missouri.

In his final year, Cody received exceptional and compassionate care from Phoenix Hospice. He enjoyed joking with his caregivers and valued the relationships he built with them. His family is deeply grateful for the kindness, dignity, and comfort provided to him and to those who loved him during that time.
