Rusty A. Donovan, 42, of North Kansas City, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, November 6, 2025.
Rusty was born on April 10, 1983, in Silver City, New Mexico, the loving son of Scott and Tena Towler.
Additional survivors include: two brothers, Justin Donovan and Cody (Wendy) Donovan; sister, Kathryn (Shawn) O’Donoghue; three nieces: Leah Donovan (Tedrick Sears), Sidney Donovan, and Makenzie Donovan; great-niece, Aspyn Sears; uncle, Matt and Molly Wilburn; two cousins, Katelyn Wilburn and Liam Wilburn; and his grandmother, Rae Hynson.
Rusty had a deep love for adventure, both in life and in imagination. He enjoyed reading fantasy books and spending time with his family playing Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder. He loved going out to support his family’s band gigs and was a devoted Sporting KC fan. Rusty was fearless, kind, caring, and had a heart as big as his smile. He would do anything for anyone-always ready to lend a hand or give you the shirt off his back. He truly lived life to the fullest, cherishing every moment. Rusty found peace in simple pleasures like watching sunsets, gathering around bonfires, and spending time outdoors. Above all, he loved his family and friends deeply, and that love shined through in everything he did.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the donor’s choice. They can be mailed to Cody & Wendy Donovan, 16215 Rudd Rosd, Lawson, MO 64062.
A private celebration of life will be held by the family. Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond is in charge of arrangements. Please remember to share your memories of Rusty with the family by visiting www.thurmanfuneralhome.com.
