With family by her side, Anne Elaine (Singleton) Shilman passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026.
Anne was born on September 6, 1942, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Henry and Laura (Curry) Singleton. During her childhood, the family moved to Sumner, Missouri, where Anne attended Sumner School and graduated from the eighth grade.
On March 8, 1973, Anne married LaVerne Shilman. The couple made their home in Des Moines, where they lived for 34 years. Anne found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved listening to music, spending time visiting with family, and weaving potholders, a hobby she enjoyed throughout her life. She was also a devoted Kansas City Royals fan and faithfully listened to their games on her radio, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer on her team.
Anne is survived by her sister, Kay Lundgren (Richard) of Fort Wayne, Indiana; her sister-in-law, Betty Singleton of Laclede, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Laura Singleton; her husband, LaVerne Shilman, her brothers, Bill, Richard, Charles, and Lee Singleton; and her sister, Barbara Judy.
Anne will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her love of family, and the quiet joys that brought warmth to those around her.
The family would like to thank Life Care of Brookfield and St. Croix Hospice for the compassionate care Anne was given.
A graveside service will be held at Lakeside Cemetery in Sumner, Missouri, on Monday, March 9, at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Rhodes Funeral Home, Brookfield, MO.
