Born and raised in Henrietta, Missouri, Robert was the son of Louis and Ruby (Boley) Sanders. He spent the majority of his life in Lexington, where he built a home filled with love, laughter and open doors.
On April 20, 1952, he married the love of his life, Lenora (Guevel). Together, they shared a beautiful life and raised three daughters; Linda (Seitz), Teresa (Todd) and husband Harold and Connie (Saulka). Bob’s greatest joy was his family. He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren and a cherished great-grandfather to thirteen great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense happiness.
Bob dedicated 35 years of his career to Armco Steel Company before retiring in 1987. Outside of work, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a passion for collecting pencils and pens from around the world, as well as unique brass pieces that reflected his appreciation for craftmanship and history. His yard was a source of pride and admiration, known throughout the neighborhood for its beauty and care in every season.
Bob never met a stranger. He welcomed everyone into his home with open arms, always ready with a warm smile, a kind word and often something to eat – or something to take home. His generosity and hospitality left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lenora; his parents; two sisters and two brothers.
Bob will be remembered for his kindness, his unwavering love for his family, and the warmth he extended to everyone he met. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched
