Stuart Dunwoodie Sharp, 90, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Aspire Senior Living in Excelsior Springs.
Stuart was born in Camden, to Irvin Clarence and Caroline “Carrie” Sharp. He was the youngest of three children. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his sister, Merna. His sister, Marion, survives.
In 1957, Stuart married Martha Faye (Gill) Sharp, who preceded him in death in 1997. They had two daughters, Cathy (Mike) Moore and Connie (Loren) Brenton. They had five grandchildren: Carrie (Jeff) Hammond, Stuart Kline, Mac (Taylor) Moore, Chad (Hannah) Brenton, and Ryan (Lindsey) Brenton. They had six great-grandchildren: Jaylin Sayers, Maven Moore, Booker Moore, Elaina Brenton, Corinne Brenton, and Avery Brenton. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
Later in life, Stuart married June Carmichael who preceded him in death. June left behind two children: Michael (Dodie) Carmichael and Vicky McCoy.
Stuart spent the majority of his working years doing final repair for Ford Motor Company. He was very proud of his work. He loved being outdoors, mowing, working on the tractor, camping, and he loved to go for drives. Stuart had special memories with Martha Faye on their numerous trips to Alaska, Wyoming to deer hunt, as well as so many camping and boating adventures. He loved to play cards and board games, and he had a deep love for anything with a motor. He was a devoted family man and loved his children and grandchildren.
Stuart suffered from Parkinsons and Parkinsons dementia the last several years, so knowing he is free of that disease and able to walk and talk again in Heaven is very comforting to his family. He will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Parkinson’s Foundation, Heartland Chapter or Hickory Grove Baptist Church. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.
Visitation with funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M., with services to follow at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be in Richmond Memory Gardens. Please remember to share your memories of Stuart with the family by visiting www.thurmanfuneralhome.com.
